FAQ

General information

What is Disc Cover? What does it do?
Disc Cover is a Mac OS X software for creating labels and covers for CDs, DVDs and more. The variety of professionally made designs will help you start designing quickly. The program imports data and images from iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD, Finder, and many other sources.

On what Macs does Disc Cover work?
It will run on Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later.

What if I don't have any of my own images?
Don't worry. Disc Cover contains over 24,000 high-quality images sorted into categories. Among them are vector images scalable to any size, photo objects with transparent background that can be applied to any picture to create mixed designs. You'll surely find something to fit your taste. The download edition contains a limited number of images — around 1,000 clipart images.

How to start and create documents

Where Can I Find the License Code?
Owners of the download version of the program get the registration (license) code in the purchase confirmation e-mail.
Owners of the boxed version receive the code inside the product package. The code is printed on the back side of the CD envelope.

The license code you gave me isn't being accepted by my program. How can I register it?
Please carefully copy and paste your license code into the License dialog. Or, if you have the boxed edition, enter it manually — be attentive: don't use the 'O' character, type only the 0 (zero) digit in the license code. Please note that there should be no capital letter 'I' in the license code. But there may be the digit 1 (one).

Does Disc Cover have any templates?
Disc Cover has about 130 professionally designed templates. The template collection is separated into several categories. You can add your own templates to it.

My logo is an .eps file. How can I add it to my document?
You can simply drag and drop the logo file into Disc Cover. Or you can do the following: Save your logo as PDF from the application used for its creation (or other graphical package). Then, in Disc Cover, click the Insert > Image > From File menu to insert this PDF image into the document. The quality will not be lost.

Can I use text symbols as clipart?
You have discovered a new source of good-looking clipart! You can use symbols from the Mac OS X symbol fonts. Choose Edit > Special Characters (Cmd-Opt-T) in the menu. Toggle on the text editing mode in Disc Cover (Insert > Extended Text) and double-click on the symbol you would like to add.

Can I export my document to a graphic file?
Disc Cover can export to PDF, TIFF, and JPEG file formats.

From which sources can I import information?
Integration with iTunes, iPhoto, Aperture and iDVD allows you to import text info and images directly onto your design. You can also add images to your documents from a folder on your hard disk. Names of image files may be used as captions. The program can import a track list from your MP3 collection.

Printing

How can I find out if my printer is supported by Disc Cover?
You can use Disc Cover with most inkjet and laser printers for printing on label paper and get great results even with inexpensive models. If you are going to print on the CD or DVD, please check to see if your printer is supported.

Program registration

How can I remove the “Trial Version” watermark?
This watermark will disappear immediately after you purchase the full licensed version of the software and register it with the license code. To register, please click Disc Cover > License menu and enter your name and license code there.

How can I use Art Text with Disc Cover? Do I need an Art Text license code?
Disc Cover allows you to use Art Text without purchasing an Art Text license. Such use of Art Text complies with these rules:

  1. Art Text should be opened from inside of Disc Cover. To open it, click the “Art Text” tool bar button (“a” icon).
  2. The graphics created in Art Text can be used only in Disc Cover. To send an image from Art Text to Disc Cover, click the “Link Back” button in the main window of Art Text.
  3. Art Text opened as a stand-alone application works in the demo mode. A watermark is placed over the exported image. To use the full version of Art Text, you should purchase a license.

    2) Delete Disc Cover 2 from Application folder.
    3) Delete Disc Cover folder from (Your Macintosh HD)/Library/Application Support/BeLight Software.
    4) Delete “Disc Cover 2.pkg” file from the (Your Macintosh HD)/Library/Receipts folder (except for Mac OS X 10.6).
    5) Delete com.belightsoft.DiscCover2.plist file from ~(Your Home)/Library/Preferences/ folder.

The application quits unexpectedly. What should I do?

It will be helpful if you send us crash log(s) too. You can find them in ~(Your Home)/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ as a file(s) with a filename starting with “Disc Cover...”. There could be several files, so send us the latest one which is usually related to the latest crash.
